Cell Signaling Pathways

C ell signaling is one of the most widely studied areas in biology. Extracellular information perceived at the surface of a cell (or in response to an environmental stress) must be translated into an intracellular response that involves a complex network of interwoven signaling cascades. These signaling events regulate cellular responses such as proliferation, differentiation, secretion and apoptosis. Keeping track of how signaling proteins interact, how they are regulated, which substrates they target and how the players in one pathway influence the activity of another pathway is a daunting task. The lastest update to the Promega iPad App includes an interactive guide to the exploration of Cell Signaling Pathways. Designed to present these complex interrelationships in an easily navigable, graphic interface, this new tool makes it simple to explore and learn. Select any molecule in the diagram and immediately: • read a description of the molecule and its role in the pathway, • access relevant scientific literature, online databases and other tools, • see a list of known inhibitors, and • discover Promega research tools available for studying a particular pathway. The initial release includes the MAPK/ ERK and PI3K/mTOR pathways. More pathways to come! Download the Promega App For iPad® iPad is a registered trademark of Apple, Inc. 5
